Summit on Student Academic Success

Students arriving on campuses today bring with them vastly different experiences and expectations than a few years ago.  They are navigating increased mental health challenges, the use (and mis-use) of emerging and other technology, the on-going impact of political and world events, post-pandemic learning disruptions and overall different levels of preparedness.  At the same time, GLCA institutions are especially poised to provide a transformative educational experience and equip students to achieve future success.

The summit will support campus teams to develop plans to confront barriers to success and identify sustainable solutions through innovative pedagogical approaches, advising models, and proactive use of data and co-curricular engagement.  SSAS will deepen our understanding of today’s students and focus on strategies to promote academic success through action and support both inside and outside the classroom.

Objectives and Outcomes:

  • REFLECT – Learn and Listen by sharing ideas, models, best practices, insights, proactive use of data and other resources to better understand and support today’s students.
  • PLAN – Develop and Deepen innovative strategies and programs to enhance student learning, engagement and well-being inside and outside the classroom.
  • ACT – Build and Boost an action plan and seek feedback on this from other participants.  This plan provides a roadmap to foster a culture of institutional commitment and student-centeredness that empowers all students to succeed.  It will identify specific programs, processes, and strategies in order to further cultivate a campus culture to support all students to succeed academically and personally.
