New Writers Awards 2010 Competition
The Great Lakes Colleges Association (GLCA) is pleased to announce the start of its 2010 New Writers Awards competition for poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction. In each category, the submitted work must be an author’s first published volume.
The GLCA will accept entries published from the spring of 2008 through the spring of 2009. A publisher should not re-submit a volume that was submitted for previous awards. GLCA will also accept galley proofs for works to be published in late spring/early summer 2009.
For the 40th year this group of thirteen independent, mid-western colleges will cite a volume of poetry, a volume of fiction and a volume of creative non-fiction as the best first work by an author. Judges will be professors of literature and writers in residence at GLCA member colleges.
Entries will be accepted beginning February 1 and must be postmarked no later than July 25th, 2009. Additional details are listed in the submission packet.
Questions should be directed to Deanna Shackelford, New Writers Awards program coordinator, at 734-661-2333 or by e-mail at shackelford@glca.org.
